1420V Bench Lathe 14″ x 17″: With full cast iron construction and a bed width of 130mm, this bench lathe is incredibly stable and ready to tackle bowls up to 14″ in diameter.

The headstock spindle has an M33 x 3.5 thread, ready to accept most scroll chucks and accessories. The lathe is supplied with a 4 prong drive centre with a spring loaded central point and 2MT fitting. The headstock spindle is hollow for removing the centre using a knockout bar. A chrome finished hand wheel is provided for rotating the spindle by hand to check how the job is going.

For decorating and finishing the headstock is also fitted with a 24 position indexing system to lock the spindle at intervals of 15 degrees around the circumference.

The tool rest banjo and the tailstock both slide effortlessly along the bed and are instantly locked in place with a large cam action lever with a soft foam grip.

The tool rest is made from a hardened steel round bar 150mm (6″) in length. Optional lengths and shapes are available. The height is set using a metal ratchet handle.

The tailstock is fitted with one our 2MT heavy duty revolving centres with a 60 degree point. The quill is advanced via a chromed hand wheel with a travel length of 80mm, which is very useful when drilling down the middle of a blank. There is an engraved scale to measure the depth when drilling, the quill also has automatic ejection of centres when wound back to zero.

A powerful yet quiet DC motor turns the spindle, controlled by an electronic system to govern the speed. In low speed range the spindle can be run as low as 250rpm, still with enough torque to get the job done. The actual spindle speed is shown on a bright digital display. There are 3 speed ranges to choose from, quickly set by changing the drive belt onto a different pulley set. The spindle can also be run in reverse to allow better sanding on both bowls and spindles.

Supplied with 4 prong drive centre, revolving tail centre, 100mm diameter face plate, knock out bar, adjustable rubber feet, 1.9m power cable and UK 3 pin plug.

VIPER3R 4 Jaw Scroll Chuck: The best selling size from the Charnwood Viper range.

A 3.75″ diameter scroll chuck, with the jaws adjusted by a geared mechanism for simple one handed operation. Self centring, high precision design. Ideal for Midi sized lathes and upwards. The fully enclosed design prevents the build up of chips and dust inside the gear mechanism.

The standard dovetail jaws can grip the workpiece both internally or externally depending on the style and shape of the piece to be turned.

The chuck fits directly onto the 1420V lathe.

We also include a wood screw which clamps into the centre of the chuck for the initial mounting of bowl blanks.

Supplied with standard dovetail jaws, wood screw, T-bar for locking the jaws and T-handled hex key for swapping the jaws.
